Report on our 2007 Mountain Pine Beetle Flight

Local mountain pine beetle mitigation experts and tree service professionals will lead a discussion on the nature and extent of this summer’s beetle flight at 7:30 am, Thursday, August 16th in Frisco’s Best Western Lake Dillon Lodge.
 
The public is invited to hear from A Cut Above Forestry’s Rick Herwehe, Tom Estes from Preventative Tree Spraying, Zeb Mertes of Beetle Kill Tree Guys and others who have been monitoring this summer’s beetle flight while working in Summit County forests.
 
Topics will include:
  • when flight populations are expected to peak
  • a comparison with beetle activity in prior years
  • the effectiveness of spraying practices
  • the impact of warmer and wetter summer weather
  • the presence of other insects and pathogens
